“I have been training with Jacob for over 3 years. I’ve had lower back issues since my early 20’s, which became progressively worse as I got older (I’m 50+ now). Realizing that it was only going to get worse, I felt it was time to try something different. While I lifted weights throughout my younger years, I never concentrated on heavy weight goals or the traditional “power” lifts.

When I started with Jacob, I was particularly concerned with how squats and deadlifts would affect my back. After working on some fundamentals of the lifts and gradually adding weight, I was shocked at how pain free it was. Beyond that, my chronic pain and acute flare-ups subsided the more I did it and the heavier I went. Now, I function better and stronger in everything I do outside of the gym.

It was so clearly transformative for me that my wife, who rarely weight trained in her life, started coming in with me. While it sometimes seemed counter-intuitive to her to put the body under stress like that, she soon began seeing and feeling the benefits. Now she comes whenever she can. Jacob is constantly reviewing form and considering approaches to meet and exceed your goals. He also pushes you beyond what you think you are capable of achieving, and the results will help you physically and mentally.”

“I first met Jacob when he was working at another gym. He was the first trainer I met who knew and applied the principles of strength progression and programming. Both principles are necessary to build functional strength. I made consistent progress while being trained and coached by Jacob. He programmed my workouts based on where I was and where I wanted and needed to go. For example I could not do a full barbell squat. Jacob helped me progress to being able to safely squat 120 lbs.

Our training was suspended when the pandemic began. Needless to say I was overjoyed when Jacob opened Primal Barbell.
